A Presence on Newbury Street for 35 years, Michael Roffi is the name behind Roffi Salon & Day Spa. Known as a master cutter, Michael trained at Sassoon in London, is a curly hair expert certified cutter & trainer for Ouidad and specializes in dry cuts. He was co-owner of Ibis hair & skin salon on Newbury street for 12 years. Michael has done hair for stage and television, notably for the Boston Pops on WGBH TV. Among the celebrities he has cut and styled are Tony winners Audra Mac Donald, Kristin Chenoweth, and Rebecca Luker. He has also worked his magic on legendary chanteuse Barbara Cook and Britain’s Dame Diana Rigg. Michael is actively involved with various educational and charitable causes and events including AIDS Action and Runway for Recovery. He has spent 18 years on the Board of Advisors for the Somerville Trade School of Cosmetology and is a certified volunteer for the Look Good Feel Better Program for the American Cancer Society. Hair shows and fundraisers for various AIDS and cancer organizations are one way in which he gives back to his community and clientele for a satisfying career rooted in reputation.
Brady lives for urban chic and the never ending changes in trends – good or bad. After 22+ years as a stylist he’s far from finished! Growing up as a young child in Connecticut, he would beg his mother to take him to the salon with her. He’s never wanted to do anything else. Brady has certifications in color from Goldwell, Framesi, Wella and L’Oreal Professionnel. In addition, he’s Bumble & Bumble, Toni & Guy and Oribe certified. Brady joined the Roffi team in 2012 and specializes in all aspects of color, up-styles and Keratin treatments. He won ‘Best of Boston’ for Men’s Cutting in 2012 from Improper Bostonian Magazine and in 2013 from Boston Magazine.
Tommy Canney and Roffi Salon & Day Spa go way back – to before the latter existed. Tommy began his career 25 years ago as Michael Roffi’s apprentice. He learned quickly, amassing a devoted clientele, many of whom have been with him for his entire career and several of whom are famous. But one thing Tommy never learned was to be a prima donna. A skilled color specialist with extensive advanced training with hair color icon Beth Minardi in NYC. He styles his clients with an eye toward both their features and their lifestyles. But he says his greatest inspiration is his talented co-workers. He feels blessed to work with a team that is not only accomplished but shares his love for the beauty business.
For a young stylist, J Despres has loads of experience. She worked her way through high school and college in salons and as a wig master for the St. Lawrence University costume shop and garnered theatrical and make up experience. A Toni & Guy Hairdressing Academy graduate, J focuses on precision cutting and Coppola and Rejuvenol techniques for smoothing hair and making it lustrous. She is a certified Goldwell and Redken colorist who also worked as make up artist for cosmetics giants Bobbi Brown and Laura Mercier. She joined the Roffi family in 2010 and when not busy at the salon continues her theatrical and multimedia work, most recently for NECN. J is part of the bridal expert team at Roffi.
A graduate of Aveda Institute of Rhode Island, Siena Gomes continued her education in skin care at Catherine Hinds Institute of Esthetics. Having trained
with Michael Roffi for four years and completed a Sassoon cutting class, she is adept at hair styling as well as skin care. In addition, she holds certifications from Joico hair color, Rene Furterer and Pravana Keratin Fusion for hair smoothing. She specializes in balayage, a hair-coloring technique that paints on color for a more natural and blended look, and loves creating up-dos for weddings and other formal occasions.
A licensed hair stylist working on Newbury Street for 20 years, Anna Lum specializes in hair color, foil, Bumble-and-Bumble cutting techniques and hair-relaxing. Skilled at cutting hair for women, men and children of all ages, she is also certified in the Bio-Ionic Ion-Retexturizing hair system for thermally reconditioning unruly hair. Striving for perfection on top of experience, Anna continues to attend seminars in both New York and Boston to refine her techniques.
Best of Boston Tatyana Makrayan’s care of hands and feet goes beyond simple manicures and pedicures to include a spiritual element. Make-up artist Elizabeth Moon has over 20 years experience working in a variety of media including theater, film, video, television, and photography. She began her career working for Chanel in 1987 and then opened her own Newbury Street studio in 1996. She has painted the faces of many celebrities and has been featured in magazines including Allure, Fitness and Wedding Bells.
A 2015 graduate of Toni & Guy Hairdressing Academy, Kacy Mullen is certified in the use of Keratin Complex, Redken Shades, Joico and TIGI color products. Having further studied with the Roffi team of master stylists, she specializes in balayage and ombré techniques for blending hair color naturally as well as in styling curly hair. She is dedicated to styling hair for brides on their special day and to creating distinctive looks for all of her clients every day.
Roz is European trained in the art of creating wonderful hair that is sophisticated and unique to each of her clients. A master colorist and stylist of unbelievable taste, Roz is an artist who can interpret your needs and aspirations, achieving a fresh polished look of soignee. Dayna Pagliarulo thinks of herself as an artist, a hair painter and sculptor to be specific– and the client is her medium. A 2010 Toni & Guy Hairdressing Academy graduate, she apprenticed under Michael Roffi, mastering razor cuts and men’s cuts, as well as achieving Ouidad certification in the cutting of curly hair. She is also certified in the application of Beth Minardi and Joico hair color and in the use of Keratin treatments to smooth frizzy hair.
Master stylist and colorist Susanne Palmacci is a believer in continuing education. Trained in Boston, London and New York, she has owned and operated two successful salons – one in Boston on Newbury St. and the other in South Miami, Florida – as well as having the unique experience of working on Madison Ave. NYC.
Perfecting razor cutting with Nick Arroyo or refreshing her precision scissor techniques at the Sassoon Academy are just some of the ways Susanne stays current with her skills. A 1998 graduate of Pivot Point School of Cosmetology, Katie Pape has worked in Boston for nine years. Trained by noted Boston colorist Michael Albor, Katie specializes in hair color utilizing Matrix and Wella hair care products. Katie is part of the bridal expert team at Roffi.
Brittni Perry joined the Roffi Salon and Day Spa family immediately after graduating from the Tony & Guy Hairstyling Academy in 2015. While benefiting from intensive training by master cutter Michael Roffi and master colorists Tommy Canney and Katie Pape, she has achieved certification in the use of Joico, Redken and TIGI hair color products as well as Oidad certification in the cutting of curly hair. She is part of the Roffi bridal team and has done runway work for Boston Fashion Week as well as for shoe designer PUMA.
Brittni specializes in balayage, the technique in which color is painted directly onto the hair to achieve a more natural and blended look, and in razor cuts. A believer in having fun with hair while keeping it healthy, she counts among her passions curly locks and all things color – from natural to rainbow bright.
Formerly an educator for Goldwell Haircare, Stephane Pierce has 13 years experience, excelling at both cutting and color. Her particular talent is for enhancing a client’s natural color and creating a look that mirrors personality and works with chosen lifestyle. Stephane is part of the bridal expert team at Roffi.
Maria’s passion for hair, which began at a young age, prompted her to begin her journey in high school. Since graduating from Plymouth South Vocational High School with a cosmetology license, she was given an extensive learning experience as an apprentice for Michael Roffi, owner and master cutter of Roffi Salon. As a young stylist striving to be a master cutter, she specializes in male and female haircuts and excels in razor, curly, and fade cuts. Maria was trained at Sassoon Academy in Santa Monica, California. She is in the process of becoming Ouidad certified. In addition to cutting, she also is certified in thermal straightening and smoothing treatments such as Coppola, Pravanna, and Rejuvenol. Maria has done styling for various hair shows and has a natural affinity for finish work making her a key part of the Roffi Bridal Team. Maria takes pride in continuing her education in and out of the salon.
Rita Quaceci is from Boston and has worked on Newbury Street for 16 years. A specialist in Keratin and Pravana straightening, she continues to take both hairstyling and business courses. She has studied extensively with both British hairdressing giants Toni & Guy and the team at Logics/Matrix Hair Care. Rita also travels to do bridal hair and styling for formal events.
Eljanor Reis has been a licensed esthetician for more than 35 years ,most of them in association with Michael Roffi. Trained at the Elizabeth Grady School of Esthetics, she specializes in facials and waxing but is also skilled at using photo light therapy and glycolic treatments to address facial skin problems. In addition, she offers make-up application and instruction as well as brow waxing and lash and brow tints. The loving treatment of animals is a cause close in Eljanor’s heart, so she uses only skincare products, such as Dr Hauschka ,which eschew all forms of animal testing and SkinCeuticals , a pharmaceutical -base product favored by many dermatologists. She loves being part of the Roffi Salon & Day Spa family.
Stephanie Schlatz specializes in make-up, especially for weddings, as well as in the care of long hair from cut, color and extensions , including balayage, in which the color is hand painted to achieve a more natural and blended look. A graduate of Braintree’s Toni & Guy Hairdressing Academy , she has traveled to New York and Chicago for cutting and color classes given by Sassoon and celebrity stylist Nick Arrojo. She is experienced in curly hair styling and certified in both Joico hair color
and the use of Keratin techniques for hair smoothing and frizz control. What knits all these skills together is Stephanie’s desire to make people look & feel beautiful.
A 2015 graduate of Aveda Institute of Rhode Island ,Kate Gibson is passionate about the hair styling and eyelashes in particular. Kate has achieved
certification in eyelash extension as well as in the use of Joico hair color. She is also experienced in cutting and Global Keratin treatments.
Kristen Marranzini says hair is her passion. She followed it to Toni & Guy Hairdressing Academy, of which she is a 2016 graduate, and on to Roffi Salon and Day Spa. Certified in Keratin treatment for smoothing frizzy hair as well as in professional hair color by Joico, Kristen specializes in braiding and styling for formal occasions.
