Are you a Sex and the City fan? Remember when Charlotte and Harry got engaged and during their wedding planning, took photos in Central Park? Fingers crossed, one of their photos would be selected as one of the wedding announcements in the New York Times.

As you might remember, their picture was selected and when the issue did print, Charlotte had an unfortunate ink stain across her face and her magical photo had been ruined. Besides the being-ruined part, we here at Roffi Salon have noticed that in the past few years an up and coming trend in the wedding world has been engagement photos and pre-wedding photography sessions. More and more brides have been orchestrating very elaborate to very simple portrait sessions that display themselves and their partners prior to their weddings.

These pictures are commonly used for save-the-date cards, engagement announcements, or to have and to hold for fun photos around the house. These sessions are in full swing especially in the winter months because engaged couple are typically in the midst of planning spring, summer, and fall weddings. Also, winter wonderland portrait sessions are becoming even more popular with the weather being used to your advantage for creative sessions either indoor or outdoor.

What we have been seeing a lot of, trend wise, at Roffi is that women are coming in to have their hair blown out and makeup done for their photos. We have seen a lot of natural hair styles from a simple, polished blow out to smooth and straightened looks or curls that have been added in for a Victoria Secret runway look. For makeup, we have seen more natural looks which emphasize one’s natural features. Clean fresh faces, contouring and highlighting, simple lips, and strong eye liner and mascara are a great look for your engagement photos.

For an appointment like this we recommend coming in a few hours before your photos. Typically a blowout will take 45 minutes with additional time for curling or flat iron work. Makeup sessions take 1 hour for application which can include airbrushing, eyelashes–and we also sell lip colors here to purchase to touch up with.
